Trade Waste Operator - Part Time

Sanitarium Berkeley Vale site is seeking applications for a Part Time Trade Waste Operator.

The Trade Waste Operator will be responsible for the day to day operation of all trade waste plant, recycled water plant, solid and liquid waste disposal and recycling systems as directed by the Environmental Team Leader. The role will also involve the use of various mechanical equipment such as the trade waste plant and driving a fork lift.

The successful candidate will display a proactive and collaborative team work style. They will be customer focused and a contributing member of a team that responds with urgency to environmental incidents. They will display a history of positive behaviours and integrity within their work in alignment with Sanitarium’s values.

The self-motivated applicant will also demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Sound verbal communication skills
  • Experience in cleaning and hygiene
  • Basic computer literacy skills
  • Ability to work independently or as a part of a team
  • Hold current Fork lift licence
  • Waste management and/or trade waste experience is an advantage

Qualification in either Water Industry Operations / Waste Management / Environmental Monitoring or similar is desirable.

The inherent requirements to perform in the role include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to maintain and sustain a drug free working environment
  • Not affected by allergens e.g peanuts
  • Must be able to sustain long periods of standing and walking
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements and tasks.
  • Ability to lift light and heavy loads frequently
  • Ability to work long periods in a wet and dirty environment
  • Ability to climb ladders

The successful candidates will need to have an understanding of, and strong commitment to, WH&S within the workplace. Reliability and a good attendance record are essential.


1 Part time Day shift position – 21 hours weekly

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8:00am – 3:00pm

Opportunity available to pick up additional hours (as required by the business) when processing secure destructions. The Successful candidate will need to be available for 2 weeks of full time training on day shift prior to commencing in their contracted part time role as outlined above.

The selection process may include online, paper-based and / or functional testing as well as interviews and internal reference testing.
