The Role

Sanitarium invites applications for the full-time contract position of Internal Communications Manager (maternity leave contract until May 2019) based at our Head Office in Berkeley Vale, NSW. The position reports to the Head of Corporate Communications and the key focus of the role is to provide timely and professional coordination of internal communications, programs and events to enhance Sanitarium’s culture, reputation and business performance.

As part of the Corporate Communications team you will need:

Strategic Skills - Strategic skills are important in this role. You must be able to develop an internal communications strategy, working with key influencers and stakeholders. Through your strategy, you must develop an understanding of the company’s goals and values, and build commitment to success.

Communication Skills - To put the communication strategy into practice, you’ll need excellent writing and presentation skills as well as event management skills. You must be a good writer because you’ll be creating content for newsletters, internal websites and e-mail communications.

Be a Team Player - You must be a good team player. As well as working with key stakeholders in the development and implementation of strategy and plans you’ll be collaborating with designers, web developers and marketing communications professionals to create internal communications material, such as Web pages, e-mail messages, posters and online advertisements. You will also be in contact with employees and departmental managers to research stories for newsletters.

Essential skills/competencies:

  • Communications Degree majoring in Public Relations and/or Organisational Development with one to two years’ experience in related fields.
  • Effective event development, coordination, implementation, communications and stakeholder management.
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills and the ability to liaise and consult with senior management.
  • A creative ability and flare for design and layout.
  • Ability to liaise with video production crews, write/edit scripts and liaise with stakeholders in the development of promotional and storytelling videos.
  • Ability to effectively use technology and all forms of communications channels.
  • Ability to develop mutual understanding and support with key stakeholders and service suppliers.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, an ability to work in a multi-tasking environment and to take initiative in recommending and acting on solutions.
