Food Technologist

A 6 month secondment or contract position exists for a scientist in our Product Development team working at our Cooranbong site. This position would suit someone passionate about creating and developing new food products.

You will be working within a multidisciplinary project team on projects covering all aspects of evolving products from ideation to launch.  In this role you will be responsible for applying professional approaches and techniques to the design and development of new food products as well as providing technical expertise and operational support to the business as required.

In this role, you will be required to:

  • Manage the food technology related aspects of allocated strategic and tactical new product development projects,
  • Actively contribute to allocated project teams
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend opportunities for innovation, cost and quality improvements
  • Provide technical assistance and operational support as required
  • Design, conduct and report on pilot plant experiments and factory trials

You will need to have the necessary behaviours to gain the confidence and support of your team, internal customers and stakeholders to achieve the required project outcomes. You will be required to demonstrate interpersonal and leadership skills within your team in order to achieve project goals. You will need to be an active supporter of Sanitarium culture and values.

Excellent written and oral communications skills are essential as well as a high degree of personal organization and professionalism. You will also have a high level of computer competency. Occasional out of hours work will be required, mostly to support production trials.

Qualifications/Experience: As a guide relevant tertiary qualifications in Food Technology or a related science area at a minimum of Bachelors level and appropriate experience in NPD in UHT beverages or a similar field would be desirable. Graduates as well as those with experience in FMCG or comparable industry are encouraged to apply. The ability to work full time is preferred however part time applicants may be considered.
