About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Specialist to join our manufacturing team on a 12 Month Fixed Term Maternity cover contract starting in January.
You will take the lead in environmental management and work collaboratively with departments to maintain high standards and drive continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
Monitoring/testing of essential onsite pollution control processes such as odour control, trade waste treatment and other environmental parameters as required
Collecting accurate environmental monitoring data, conducting audits and report writing
Ensuring that environmental risks are identified and appropriate plans to mitigate these risks are implemented across the site
Providing effective incident or complaint investigations and acting as a community liaison
Managing projects to reduce risk or enhance the sites environmental performance
Compliance with Supply Chain, legal and other standards (including but not limited to consents to discharge, HSNO, RMA)
Complying with all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures and assisting this function where needed
Managing the cleaning function for the site including managing 2 direct reports, contractors and ordering of supplies
First and foremost, you will have a passion for all things environmental and a continuous improvement mindset. Your customer service focus, outstanding communication skills and ability to remain well organised will see you excel in this role.
You’ll need to be able to build effective relationships within the wider team and across the business to have the biggest success in this role. You won’t be afraid to get out on the factory floor to study the processes and people to gain a deeper understanding of the business. In addition, you will have a passion for developing and coaching others in a constructive and supportive way while at the same time developing your own leadership skills.
A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science / Engineering or equivalent is required, as is a minimum of 2 years environmental management systems experience or similar.
Experience within a manufacturing and/or FMCG environment, and a working knowledge of ISO14001 would also be beneficial.
